FRONTIERS: WILD, SEMI-WILD, HUMAN.... A photographic Novel, is a book of photographs I have taken or worked on over a period of 6 years from 2012 to 2017. I love the concept of writing a novel through photography and that's why I called this book of photographs a photographic novel, for there is a strong narrative dimension in these photographs that creates visual literature. And this narrative link, for a good part, points to the content in the images. They are three countries where I took these photos from; Mozambique, Zimbabwe and South Africa, three neighbours who share borders, languages, cultures, fauna, flora, etc, joined by a bond as old as creation, itself. I decided to work from the wild, to the semi wild, to human, exploring frontiers in these worlds, juxtaposing these worlds, one against the other or all three together in a photo, sometimes obsessively focusing on a single spot, repetitively creating different story strands from that one place, and then combine photography with other visual art medias like painting and drawing thus creating entirely different artworks. It is the essence of my work, to operate at the limit between natural and human landscapes, reality and fiction, nature and humanity, by bestowing an actual dimension to the utopian. The photographs are a celebration of this.¿Tendai Rinos Mwanaka is a multidisciplinary artist, editor, publisher and producer with 26 individual books and over 27 curated anthologies published in the US, Northern Ireland, UK, Cameroon and Zimbabwe. He has 3 music albums playing in at least 18 radio stations in the US, Canada, UK, France, Israel, Brazil and Australia and hundreds of paintings and drawings, thousands of photographs, some exhibited, published and sold. His art pieces have appeared in over 400 journals in over 35 countries and his books and writing are translated into at least 11 languages.

Despite the current economic and political situation in our country, poets, writers, artists, and other creatives have defied the odds and continued to churn their works and submit to produce this marvelous anthology. This eighth installment continues the tradition of giving new writers the platform to shine and to the seasoned writers, a shebeen to meet again and prolong the tradition. Peace of the Senses: How to Fight the FAGS is a collection of interlinked photographs that deals with the human story in several existential perspectives, especially how we find joy and happiness in difficult circumstances in life. Thus the images in this book celebrate human life, makes funny of difficult situations we go through. There is an element of the comedian in the photos, and it sometimes would create huge howls of laughter, sometimes chuckles and smiles. We go with the adage laughter is the best medicine in this work, and I believe this creates the peace of the senses, as the title presupposes. A set of common themes and philosophical questions permeates the book, bringing the narrative together as an author's self-interrogation through invented others. Detecting the thematic threads whilst paying attention to the differences requires one to experience the book both horizontally and vertically, following a narrative that seems as much widening as deepening.

- Publication to coincide with the exhibition of the same name at Huis Marseille in Amsterdam from 28 October 2023 to 25 February 2024Eddo Hartmann's new photographic project focuses on one of the first 'sacrifice zones' created by governments in the late modern era for the secret production, testing and maintenance of nuclear and chemical weapons of all kinds. The residents of these locations unknowingly became guinea pigs in the experiment. Today, these areas have become examples of ecocide: the irreversible destruction of nature on a large scale. A remote area of Kazakhstan was once home to the Soviet Union's main nuclear testing facilities. It became known as 'The Polygon'. On this site more than 450 nuclear tests took place from 1949 to 1989, without regard for their effect on the local population and the environment. The full impact of the radiation only became apparent after the test site closed in the early 1990s. Today, this corner of the Kazakh steppe is a place of desolation and decay. The landscape is dotted with strange lakes formed by nuclear explosions and the remains of giant concrete structures. It seems uninhabitable, and yet people live there, demonstrating incredible resilience. Eddo Hartmann (b. 1973) studied photographic design at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague. He mainly focuses on long-running documentary projects and is the author of Setting the Stage - North Korea, published by Hannibal Books. He currently also works as a lecturer in photography and visual grammar at KABK in The Hague. During the 1948 Palestine war many Palestinians were forced to leave their homes. This same fate befell the desert tribes of the Bedouin, but their strong bond with the desert - the heart of their culture - could not be broken. Yet, today, the number of Bedouin people inhabiting their original territories is shrinking, and many are gradually losing their distinct identity. Born of Sand and Sun is not a conventional depiction of the life of a nomadic people nor does it try to capture the current suffering caused by the Israeli‐Palestinian conflict. It is a visual metaphor of the gradual disappearance of these brave desert people - all that is left for them are fragments covered with sand, which in time they will themselves become. Over a period of more than three years, Petra Basnáková spent time living in Bedouin communities, to better understand their way of life, and to experience the beauty and simplicity of their existence and their deeply rooted love of the desert itself. The book follows two storylines ‐ the life journey of the Bedouin people and Basnáková's journey of getting to know them and becoming accepted by the Bedouin community.
