Every day on the news we are shown images of war and destruction. This coincides with global expenditure on arms increasing year after year. However, we are rarely afforded a glimpse behind the curtains of the global arms business.Photographer Nikita Teryoshin travelled to 16 arms fairs between 2016 and 2023 to investigate what happens before wars take place. The Victorian and Edwardian periods saw the development of the steam locomotive in Britain from a comparatively simple machine to a powerful main line express capable of speeds of a hundred miles an hour. The book starts with an introduction dealing with the main lines of development in the north of Britain and that is followed by a picture section with over a hundred photographs. Each illustration has an extended caption giving details of the engine and its history. The material is arranged geographically, with sections dealing with the north of England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and a separate section on light railways. The photographs are all of the locomotives in their working days, many showing them in action on both passenger and goods trains. This splendid collection shows the rich diversity of Britain‿s railways and how different companies and their engineers produced engines of great individuality. Infatti, da un lato l'autore non fornisce risposte, ma pone domande nel sistema consumistico; dall'altro cattura istantanee e fascinose atmosfere di un'elegante città senza tempo.A ben vedere, in realtà, i due progetti sono unitari e complementari, la cui chiave di lettura è concettuale, rendendo lo spettatore direttamente coinvolto. Sabato 20 Gennaio 2024 alle ore 19:00 si terrà il vernissage della mostra con un buffet ed un rinfresco per la presentazione di tutti i protagonisti coinvolti e si invita alla partecipazione.Nei giorni successivi sarà possibile visionare le opere con un'eventuale conversazione con l'autore su richiesta.Sabato 27 Gennaio 2024 alle ore 19:00 si terrà il finissage, in cui si ringrazieranno tutti coloro che hanno voluto partecipare.

This is because three-quarters of the prose poetry was written a few years before the gates were even discovered and photographed. For example, the first couplet with photo Webs of Fear, was named this because of the scene of spider webs covering the spires of a gate. It, along with twenty other images, was titled so the image could be framed and sold to a gallery. One morning while journaling, the author wrote, "I have spent a lifetime spinning webs of terror and shame between the spires that stand as sentinels to my heart." When she wrote this, she almost fell off of her chair! These powerful words gave voice to the photograph, Webs of Fear, that had just been titled two weeks earlier! This discovery led the author to search her ten journals for verses that were meaningful and spiritual in nature. Then she paired verbatim the words with appropriate images. In fact, nearly three-quarters of the book's forty-three verses were located in journals and gave voice to corresponding images. Furthermore, the words were written in the author's journal a few years before she discovered and photographed the gates. That is the magic of this book - words of great depth came during journaling sessions, and several years later, photographs showed up that portrayed the words in action. This is the work of the Divine. May it lead to your peace of mind and freedom of heart.

Under Napoleon I, the French Army conquered most of Europe during the Napoleonic Wars. Professionalising again from the Revolutionary forces and using columns of attack with heavy artillery support and swarms of pursuit cavalry the French army under Napoleon and his marshals was able to outmanoeuvre and destroy the allied armies repeatedly until 1812. Napoleon introduced the concept of all arms Corps, each one a traditional army 'in miniature', permitting the field force to be split across several lines of march and rejoin or to operate independently. The Grande Armée operated by seeking a decisive battle with each enemy army and then destroying them in detail before rapidly occupying territory and forcing a peace.

The last clear German victory in World War II occurred in the last days of April 1945 during the defense, loss and subsequent recovery of the Saxon city of Bautzen. On that occasion, when all was lost, the remnants of once powerful German units, such as the Panzer Divions Hermann Göring, Brandeburg or Grossdeutschland, inflicted a total defeat on the proud Soviet-Polish units, more robust and better armed, that supported the Red Army advance towards the capital of the Reich. This text tells the story of the events that took place in that city, the capital of Upper Lusatia, just south of the German capital. The high efficiency of the German soldiers made the difference with a real state of an army by then in decay and with no more fuel, showing how the fighting spirit was kept high until the end thanks to the concrete possibility of stopping the Soviets, even if only for a few hours or days, in their overwhelming advance to allow the evacuation of the greatest number of Germans people towards the West of the country. An innovative work this one by Gil Martínez, that will certainly occupy, together with the previous one already published in Breslau 1945, a special place in the library of all those who are interested in the military history of the last terrible world conflict.

2015 begann der Filmemacher Iwan Schumacher Fotografien von Paaren zu sammeln, die nicht in die Kamera schauen, entweder weil sie mit der Fotografin vertraut sind oder weil sie sich unbeobachtet wähnen.
