Although Che Guevara was murdered almost sixty years ago, the famous red-and-black image of him is still widely seen around the world: at leftist political demonstrations and, ironically - given his strong opposition to capitalism - on many commercial products. However, he was a controversial figure during his lifetime - and remains so today. On both the political left and the political right, attitudes to him vary widely: while some see him as a romantic, highly-principled and legendary fighter for the world‿s poor and exploited masses, others depict him either as an unrealistic and thus irrelevant adventurer, or even as a ruthless and cold-blooded butcher. Consequently, biographies about him over the decades have ranged from the overly sympathetic, to the extremely hostile. As well as covering aspects of his family life and his loves - and his early, sometimes less-than-revolutionary, attitudes - this biography, as expected, deals with those areas for which Che is best known. These include his adventurous explorations, as a young man on a motorbike, of Latin and Central America; his leadership and bravery during Cuba‿s Revolutionary War; his practical and theoretical contributions to the conduct of guerrilla warfare; and his emergence as an international revolutionary legend who inspired radical young people in the 1960s, and who continues to inspire rebellious people around the world today. However, this biography also explores other aspects of Che‿s life which are not so well-known. From an early age, he developed a keen love of reading, covering an eclectic mix of adventure stories, poetry, history and philosophy - and, from his teens, he began a lifetime habit of making notes on what he read. He also became a strong chess player, able enough to draw with one of the world‿s leading grandmasters. Even during guerrilla campaigns, he managed to maintain those loves. Since his murder, he has emerged as an original contributor to Marxist economics and philosophy. It was his wide-ranging studies that led him to become an outspoken opponent of the ‿orthodox‿ communism followed in the Soviet Union - and of its Cold War foreign policy of ‿peaceful coexistence‿. His tolerance of, and willingness to work with, those having different views saw him accused of Maoism - and even Trotskyism. More accurately, Che has bequeathed the unique strand of revolutionary socialism known as ‿Guevarism‿.

Rispettatelo e invitatelo a bruciare ogni resistenza in voi che vi impedisce di ricevere la sua verità per purificarvi"."Nella tradizione di "All Quiet on the Western Front", "War Is A Racket", "To Hell And Back", "Catch 22" e "Catcher In The Rye", "X Rubicon" racconta l'esperienza reale di un esploratore militare e le "esigenze malvagie poste a un giovane alla tenera età di 18 anni e che ha compiuto tali azioni malvagie in nome della "libertà e della libertà"."

Rodolfo Biazon is erroneously regarded as the goat of his class at the Philippine Military Academy. The last cadet in the order of merit, the bottom-dweller of his batch. But his rise from poverty to become a defender of democracy and a senator of the republic just might make him the PMA GOAT, or the greatest of all time.In 1992, Biazon became the first PMA alumnus to be elected senator. This eldest child of a baker and a laundry woman achieved this feat one year after he reaced the pinnacle of his outstanding military career--as the 21st chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. He faced enormous odds to get to that point, starting from the grinding poverty of a childhood spent in Sangley Point's shadow during World War II when he turned into a man overnight after he lost his father a day after his eighth birthday.A working student throughout his elementary and high school days, juggling odd jobs while also plugging away in his family's home-based laundry trade, he would finally dind his life's purpose after he entered the PMA at 21. It marked the beginning of three and half decades of a stellar military service, fittingly followed by a distinguished legislative career that spanned almost a quarter century. This book examines the incredible life and times of a soldier who stood tall as an exemplar extraordinaire of PMA's bedrock principle of civilian supremacy over the military--the same solon and statesman who will leave behind an astonishing legacy as arguably the fiercest, most prolific and most accomplished defender of Philippine democracy during the post-EDSA years and beyond.

In 1945, John Russell (Russ) Kerr provided a poignant narrative of his experiences as a left gunner on the B-29 Super-fortress engaged in the struggle against Japanese forces. Stationed on Tinian Island in the Mariana Islands of the Pacific Ocean, Russ articulates his wartime journey through a series of handwritten letters addressed to his brother, Robert (Bob) Kerr, and their family in Detroit, Michigan.Despite some letters enduring damage in a basement flood, Bob preserved this collection as a historical treasure for his family and future generations, maintaining the original spellings and phrasing. Russ's letters offer a vivid portrayal of daily life on the island as he awaited bombing missions over Japan, recounting the challenges of flying missions against enemy antiaircraft artillery. The sobering reality that not all members of his unit returned from these perilous missions adds a somber tone to his accounts. In addition to the challenges, Russ's letters also capture the camaraderie and humor shared among the airmen. He skillfully weaves tales of their escapades, injecting moments of levity into their wartime existence. The island's entertainment offerings, including movies, appearances by famous baseball players, live performances, and the presence of beer, became crucial elements in sustaining morale. In essence, this book stands as a cherished historical record of the Kerr family and serves as a compelling narrative for anyone with an interest in World War II. The preservation of Russ's original expressions adds an authentic touch, making this account not only informative but a heartfelt and personal contribution to the collective memory of this pivotal period in history.
